Teleradiology Career FAQs

Work Structure & Flexibility

Can I work for PRO Radiology while employed as a radiologist elsewhere?

Yes. PRO Radiology operates on a non-exclusive model. Many radiologists who work with us in remote radiology roles also hold permanent fractional appointments at public hospitals or maintain equity in private practice elsewhere. You are free to retain your existing clinical roles and use PRO Radiology for supplementary reporting sessions, "moonlighting," or to smooth out income fluctuations. We do not require you to resign from other providers to join our team of radiologists working in flexible radiologist jobs across Australia.

If you have a pre-existing non-compete (e.g., Radiologist jobs in Queensland), Pro Radiology can accommodate this as well.

Do you require exclusivity from radiologists undertaking remote teleradiology roles?

No. Unlike some corporate providers that offer teleradiology jobs, we do not include exclusivity clauses in our agreements. We believe in professional autonomy. As long as you meet your session commitments and adhere to our quality standards, you are free to work with other imaging groups or operate your own private practice while maintaining your remote radiologist job with PRO Radiology.

Are part-time or casual radiologist jobs available?

Yes. We offer highly flexible engagement models, including casual ad hoc shifts, structured part-time radiologist roles, and volume-based agreements. Whether you are a semi-retired Fellow looking to remain clinically active or a full-time consultant seeking additional income through remote radiology jobs in Australia, we can tailor an arrangement that suits your professional and personal goals.

Can I choose my own hours in a remote radiologist job?

We work collaboratively to align your availability with case demand. While certain reporting blocks (such as mornings and after-hours) experience higher demand, we do not impose rigid 9-to-5 rostering. Radiologists working in flexible radiology roles with PRO can nominate recurring weekly sessions or accept ad hoc reporting shifts as their schedules permit.

Are after-hours or weekend teleradiology jobs available?

Yes. After-hours and weekend reporting sessions are among our most in-demand opportunities. There is consistent, high-volume case flow during evenings (6 pm–midnight), weekends and public holidays. This does not impact renumeration. Renumeration varies based on the urgency of cases (e.g., flagged as urgent, priority, or routine), as well as the modality and number of items per case.

Can I take on additional teleradiology reporting work alongside my existing private practice?

Absolutely. Many radiologists use PRO Radiology to supplement private practice income through structured remote radiologist jobs. If your private lists fluctuate or seasonal demand drops, logging in for a reporting session helps ensure consistent productivity and revenue. It is a practical and low-risk way to diversify income while maintaining clinical efficiency.

Work Structure & Flexibility

Can radiologists work from home in Australia?

Yes. PRO Radiology offers fully remote radiology jobs in Australia through a secure, decentralised teleradiology platform. Qualified FRANZCR radiologists can work from home while delivering high-quality diagnostic reporting to clinics and hospitals nationwide. Our infrastructure is purpose-built for radiologists seeking genuine work-from-home radiologist roles without compromising compliance or quality.

Do I need to live near one of your clinics to apply for radiologist jobs?

No. Our teleradiology jobs are location-independent. Radiologists undertaking remote radiology jobs with PRO can be based anywhere in Australia, provided they meet AHPRA registration requirements and maintain an appropriate reporting environment. Geographic proximity to image acquisition sites is not required.

Can I live regionally or travel while working in a remote radiologist job?

Yes. Many of our radiologists choose regional living or maintain flexible travel arrangements while continuing to report cases remotely. Provided you have secure high-speed internet and a RANZCR-compliant reporting setup, you can work from anywhere within Australia. This flexibility is one of the key lifestyle benefits of remote radiology jobs.

Do you provide IT support and workstation setup assistance?

Yes. We provide comprehensive onboarding for radiologists commencing remote radiologist jobs with PRO. Our IT team assists with the full configuration of our RIS/PACS platform (InteleViewer) and voice-recognition systems (commonly 3M Fluency). We also provide ongoing 24/7 support to ensure continuity during reporting sessions.

What equipment is required for home teleradiology reporting?

To undertake remote radiology jobs safely and compliantly, radiologists require:

  • Diagnostic Monitors: Medical-grade displays (e.g., Barco or Eizo) meeting megapixel standards appropriate to your subspecialty (3MP for general/CT/MRI; 5MP for mammography).
  • Workstation: A high-performance PC capable of running InteleViewer efficiently.
  • Environment: A reporting room with controlled ambient lighting in accordance with RANZCR Standards of Practice.
  • Internet: Secure, low-latency broadband (NBN or dedicated fibre).

We provide guidance on hardware specifications and vendor options during onboarding for radiologists entering remote work-from-home roles.

Income & Workload

How are radiologists paid for remote radiology jobs?

We offer competitive remuneration models based on a per-report structure. These models reward efficiency, accuracy and reporting volume. Rates vary depending on modality complexity (e.g., MRI vs. plain film) and urgency (eg: urgent, priority and routine cases). Detailed financial arrangements are discussed confidentially during the interview process for radiologist jobs in Australia with PRO.

How many cases can I report in a typical teleradiology shift?

Case volume depends on your subspecialty, reporting efficiency and chosen session length. Our intelligent worklist routing ensures a consistent flow of appropriate cases aligned to your expertise (e.g., MSK, Neuroradiology, General). Radiologists undertaking remote radiology jobs will experience steady volume without being overwhelmed beyond safe reporting limits.

Can I increase my teleradiology income by taking on additional reporting sessions?

Yes. Our volume-driven model allows radiologists to scale income up or down. If you have unexpected availability, such as a cancelled clinic list or free weekend, you can accept additional reporting sessions to increase earnings. This flexibility is a key advantage of part-time and sessional radiologist jobs with PRO Radiology.

International Radiologists & Regulatory Considerations

Can overseas-trained radiologists apply for radiologist jobs in Australia with PRO?

We are currently only employing FRANZCR Radiologists (based in Australia).

Can I work under the 10-year moratorium (Section 19AB) in a remote radiologist job?

In many cases, yes. Teleradiology is often one of the most viable pathways for radiologists restricted by Section 19AB of the Health Insurance Act 1973.

  • DWS Exemptions: If reporting for a District of Workforce Shortage (DWS), you may qualify for a Section 19AB exemption. We report on several rural and regional sites within DWS. We therefore have the caseload to allocate studies to Radiologists subject to DWS. Radiologists will still need to be FRANZCR and hold AHPRA Registration.

We are experienced in structuring remote radiology roles to meet regulatory requirements.

Can my teleradiology work report rural or shortage-area cases remotely from a major city?

This depends on your provider number arrangement and current Medicare legislation. However, supporting rural and regional communities is central to our business model. We regularly assist radiologists in applying for 19AB exemptions when remote reporting services benefit Areas of Need.

Do you offer visa sponsorship for radiologist jobs in Australia?

We do not offer visa sponsorship, as we are purely teleradiology and do not provide clinic-based employment.
